black;">O IX.br (Brasil <i>Internet Exchange</i>) alcançou mais
uma marca histórica. Nessa segunda-feira (6/12) atingiu o pico
de 20 Tbit/s de troca de tráfego Internet, 43% a mais do que o
registrado no mesmo mês de 2020. Projeto do Núcleo de Informação
e Coordenação do Ponto BR (NIC.br) e apoiado pelo Comitê Gestor
da Internet no Brasil (CGI.br), o IX.br é considerado um dos
maiores conjuntos mundiais de Pontos de Troca de Tráfego
Internet (PTT).</span><span lang="EN-US"></span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify">A marca se refere ao tráfego agregado
das 35 localidades onde há presença do IX.br, e está relacionada à
maior procura por conexão aos IXPs (<i>Internet Exchange Points</i>,
ou seja, PTTs) do NIC.br, explica o gerente de infraestrutura do
IX.br, Júlio Sirota. Esse resultado, destaca Sirota, é reflexo do
crescimento do número de Sistemas Autônomos em território
nacional, redes independentes que se conectam e colaboram entre
si, compondo a Internet no país.<span lang="EN-US"></span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify">“Os PTTs se propõem a interconectar
redes em regiões metropolitanas, e o aumento delas impacta na
quantidade de participantes no IX.br”, afirma o gerente de
infraestrutura, acrescentando que “desde março do ano passado,
estamos tendo um incremento no número de empresas interessadas em
tomar parte na troca de tráfego, sejam elas provedores de acesso à
Internet, ou de conteúdo”.<span lang="EN-US"></span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify">No caso dos provedores de acesso,
Sirota salienta, o setor anda aquecido no país nos últimos anos:
“Há muitas empresas sendo criadas para explorar o mercado de
conexão à Internet, principalmente nas pequenas e médias cidades,
nas quais as grandes operadoras podem demorar mais a chegar, ou
não têm tanto interesse em atuar”. <span lang="EN-US"></span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify">Esse mercado altamente competitivo e
heterogêneo começou a se desenhar há cerca de oito anos,
impulsionado pela atuação provedores de menor porte e pela veia
empreendedora dos pequenos empresários. “Atualmente há mais de 10
mil licenças emitidas pela Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações
para pequenos prestadores de serviços de telecomunicações”,
informa o diretor vice-presidente da Associação Brasileira de
Internet (Abranet), Eduardo Parajo, destacando que esse modelo, em
que há grande número de empresas operando ao mesmo tempo, é uma
particularidade nacional.<span lang="EN-US"></span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify">Na avaliação de Parajo, o IX.br é uma
excelente alternativa para que os pequenos provedores de Internet
possam interligar-se de maneira mais econômica, efetiva e com
melhor qualidade. “O IX.br proporcionou uma distribuição melhor do
conteúdo no país e vem criando um mecanismo importantíssimo de
melhoria da qualidade, porque quando você acessa um conteúdo de um
provedor que está conectado ao IX, não precisa ficar navegando na
Internet mundial para achá-lo. Isso realmente ajuda não só os
provedores a baratearem seus custos, mas melhora a qualidade para
o usuário final e propicia um ganho muito grande para a Internet
no Brasil em qualidade e<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>competitividade”.<span

<p style="text-align:justify">Para além desse cenário, o avanço do
IX.br também está vinculado ao empenho de <span

funcionam os Pontos de Troca de Tráfego?</b><span lang="EN-US"></span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify">Os Pontos de Troca de Tráfego ou <i>Internet
Exchanges</i> são pontos neutros nos quais diversas organizações
se interligam para trocar pacotes de dados Internet entre si. Os
PTTs são instalados em <i>datacenters</i> e contam com
equipamentos que permitem a conexão simultânea de centenas de
organizações: empresas de <i>streaming</i> de vídeo, sítios de
buscas, redes sociais, bancos, universidades, órgãos de governo,
entre outras. Essa união de redes permite que a Internet fique
mais veloz, eficiente, resistente a falhas, e com custo mais
baixo.<span lang="EN-US"></span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify">O NIC.br, por meio do IX.br, opera 35
<i>Internet Exchanges</i> distribuídos nas cinco regiões do País.
A entidade tem trabalhado ainda para, assim, diminuir a distância
entre o conteúdo e seus usuários, o que contribui para melhorar a
experiência <i>on-line</i>. São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro e Fortaleza
são locais onde muitas CDNs (<i>Content Delivery Networks</i>) já
têm instalações próprias para distribuição de conteúdo e, por
isso, o NIC.br vem investindo no projeto OpenCDN, que promove e
facilita a distribuição de conteúdos em cidades, como Salvador e
